Testing
the Serbu Super Shorty at 5 yards An overview with pictures
Serbu
Super Shorty modified Remington 870. This is
an NFA firearm, it is a registered AOW (Any
Other Weapon) with the ATF. These are
legal and the NFA tax is just $5 on AOWs (not
$200 like most NFA firearms). We took this
one to the local range and pattern tested it
with five types of shotgun shells. We
shot each type of load at a target 5 yards
away with the Serbu : 00 Buck Remington 8 pellet
Tactical, Load Reduced Recoil, 00 Buck Winchester
9 pellet, #4 Buck Smith & Wesson
, #4 Shot Remington Express 2 3/4" Magnum,
#7-1/2 Shot RWS heavy field load 2 3/4" 1 1/4oz
(Bird Shot)

Take note of the
front and back sides of the shotgun patterning
frame. The back side has the wing nuts, which
are protected when on the other side of any
impact
The results are
interesting. The bird shot stayed tighter than
we had thought it would, and the old buck shot
really shot unpredictably.
