We had a chance to photograph this NHM-91 AK47 style rifle. It is a 7.62x39 The NHM-91 was built by Norinco and marketed in the U.S. by China Sports. Because it is so overbuilt and heavy, many think of it as a sporterized Chinese RPK style AK 47. The NHM91 has a stamped receiver and 20 heavy barrel. There is a short muzzle nut tack welded on

This NHM91 has had it's front site post 'modified' with a grinding wheel.. in order to attach this cheap scope on a receiver cover mount

NHM-91 were made with a rivet where the rear tang of the magazine hits the receiver. Most owners removed this so that standard AK47 magazines would work without modification.

Like all Chinese AK47s these are sturdy, well made and overbuilt. So with the long barrel and weight these are often called RPKs

It might look appealing to someone, but this has really lowered the value of this fairly rare AK47 which has not been imported in many years. Replacement parts may be available, but this is a serious gunsmithing job to replace the parts damaged to install this optical scope. The NHM91 did not have the soviet optics mounting plate on the left side of the receiver so the owner must have decided this wobbly option was 'good enough' and took the grinder to the rear sight block. The rifle is shootable in this condition, but worth much less to a collector

Take another look at the grinders effects on the rear sight block not to mention the destroyed rear sight.. why not just remove it?? I guess this guy was in a hurry or just cared that little for his rifle
